THE PROJECT

A MILLENIAL CULTURE
FOUNDED ON THE LOVE FOR LAND

THE ONLY PROJECT IN ITALY TOTALLY BASED ON ANCIENT VINEYARDS RANGING FROM 35 UP TO 120 YEARS OF AGE

Bentu Luna places man and his ability to interpret nature according to creativity and science at the centre. A humanistic approach that cannot be separated from a profound respect for nature, the inhabitants and the history of the place.

IN THE HEART
OF
SARDINIA

The project of the company Bentu Luna develops in the geographical center of Sardinia, between Mandrolisai and Barigadu, in the province of Oristano and Nuoro. The winery was built in Neoneli, in the province of Oristano.

The Mandrolisai multicultural landscape is one of fourteen in Italy registered in the National Register of Rural Landscapes of Historical Interest, the only one in the region, by virtue of the fact that the land use has remained unchanged over the last 200 years. The intrinsic value of this ancestral and pulsating heart of Sardinia is the terroir, understood as the intersection between microclimate, soil quality and man’s work.

SUSTAINABLE FROM
HARVEST TO
PRODUCTION

Bentu Luna places man and his ability to interpret nature according to creativity and science at the centre. A humanistic approach that cannot be separated from a profound respect for nature, the inhabitants and the history of the place. The project started after a long discussion table with the farmers and inhabitants of Neoneli, primarily with the aim of saving a unique viticultural heritage in Italy and in the world

OUR WINES

The enhancement of the grapes obtained from these old vines passes through the drop-by-drop infusion of their juice to transform it into wine, respecting its original nature.

Therefore the vinification is done with grains or whole bunches for all wines, with a spontaneous fermentation produced by indigenous yeasts. The wine obtained is not then “accommodated” with oenological products, filtered or modified.

The materials in contact with the wine are “warm”: cement, wood, terracotta; and in the case of wood they must not be invasive or overpowering, but only be present as a function of the natural growth of our wines.

These choices have led to wines which, in their diversity, express the territory in a sincere way, both in organoleptically reproducing the tastes and aromas of the Mediterranean, and in re-proposing wines traditionally produced in Sardinia for centuries. The result is outside the patterns known for Sardinia: they are all very elegant wines, with great drinking pleasure, little relevance of alcohol to the taste, agile but also with great depth and persistence.

A new expression of the Mediterranean that originates from the dawn of viticulture and which through practical knowledge is transformed into a dense, current and usable story of such a rich territory.
